Which fuel brand has the dearest diesel?
Valero, averaging 199.9p a litre against the UK average of 199.9p. The cheapest non-supermarket brand is Maxol at 194.9p.
Why do forecourts of the same brand charge different prices?
The brand on the sign is often not the owner. Many forecourts are run by dealers or forecourt groups who set their own prices, and even supermarkets price each site against its local competition. Motorway services charge more still.
Where do these prices come from?
Every UK forecourt has to report its prices to the government's Fuel Finder scheme within 30 minutes of changing them. We check it every 15 minutes. Averages are middle prices and leave out prices that haven't changed in 30 days.
